I am a huge fan of eyeshadow palettes. I think they’re easy to travel with, convenient, and all around amazing, but sometimes palettes can be a bit frustrating. With a majority of my eyeshadow palettes, I find myself gravitating towards particular colors, and completely avoiding others. Sometimes I even find myself buying certain palettes just because I like one or two shades. Next thing you know I’m stuck with a half empty palette that will sit in the back of my make-up drawer until the end of eternity. Luckily, BUXOM has found a solution to my great palette dilemma. They recently introduced the BUXOM Eyeshadow Bar, a spectrum of 40 primer-infused, ultra-luxe eyeshadows. You now have the option to mix & match shades to create your own custom palette, or simply choose your favorite single eyeshadow.
BUXOM’s newly released eyeshadows are available in an insane range of finishes, ranging from matte to shimmering metallic to sparkle. The shadows are formulated with a technology designed to keep color in place and glide on with a powder-to-silk feel. They offer a great selection of nudes, as well as brights. My one hesitation about the BUXOM Eyeshadow Bar was the ease of switching eyeshadows in and out of the palette, but the system couldn’t be more simple. You simply slide the eyeshadow drawer out of the right side of the palette, and snap in your favorite shades. The shadows pop out quite easily, making it simple to add and remove colors, yet feel secure enough that you never have to worry about a shade falling out.

As I’ve mentioned, the new BUXOM Eyeshadow Bar features 40 eyeshadow shades, and I’ve had the opportunity to play with and try 8. Out of the 8 shades I’ve tried, I can confidently say the quality is on point! The pigmentation is incredible, especially with the metallic shades, and I’m especially impressed with the staying power.
Bold Bling is a metallic rose gold. I would best describe the shade as a coppery brown with warm undertones. It applied smoothly, and has a gorgeous metallic sheen.
Glitz Factor is a metallic copper. It’s a bit more orange than Bold Bling, and has a frost finish.
Cool Caviar is a shimmering gunmetal. It is definitely a cool tone, with a frost finish.
Pure Platinum is a metallic silver, and one of my favorite shades in the collection. Pure Platinum is unbelievably pigmented, and has an incredible metallic finish.
Patent Leather is a sparkling blackberry. It’s a smoky purple shade, and one of the least pigmented of the bunch. It looks darker in the pan, but is quite sheer once you apply it.
No Faux is an iridescent snakeskin shade. It is a duo-chrome shade with warm undertones.
Star Treatment is a matte hazelnut shade. It’s great for everyday wear, and has build-able pigmentation.
Invite Only is a matte terracotta with warm brown undertones.
A custom palette with 6 eyeshadows retails for $40. Each additional single eyeshadow is $12. If you’re interested in only a few shades, you can buy a single eyeshadow compact for only $2. The BUXOM Eyeshadow Bar is exclusively available at Sephora and Sephora.com.
